Hi there, I’m Sarah, a business owner just like you.  I now run two businesses: Sashay Dance and Sashay SEO.  Here’s how I started Sashay Dance in 2016 and how it led me to setting up Sashay SEO.  

I was introduced to Latin and Ballroom dancing by my grandparents and started dancing when I was just six years old. While I went on to become an award-winning PA in events, dance was always my real passion, so I decided to follow it fully and train as a qualified dance teacher.

The night after teaching my very first class as a qualified salsa instructor, I was violently mugged. I was left with a concussion and PTSD. It was a hugely traumatic time - but also a turning point. I had to leave my job because I couldn't concentrate, leaned into what I loved, and turned my dream into a business.

That’s how Sashay Dance was born.

With no team, no funding, and no ads, I knew the best way people would find me was through Google. So I learned how to make that happen.

I was very fortunate to meet a man called Keith at a local business networking session, he ran an SEO company and built my very first website. More importantly, he introduced me to the world of SEO.

I became obsessed with it.

The fact that my website was generating real enquiries and much faster than I ever imagined lit a fire in me. I started learning everything I could, testing things for myself, and figuring out what actually moved the needle. It became my secret weapon as a new business owner.

And it worked. I took Sashay Dance national after just 1 year. Over time, I built it into a six-figure business — and in January this year, I had 135 enquiries in a single month, all from organic Google search.

But it wasn’t a smooth journey. I spent thousands on SEO agencies. Got stuck in retainers. Targeted the wrong keywords. I had to unlearn a lot before I finally figured out what actually works.

That’s what led me to create Sashay SEO.

This is a passion project built for startups, sole traders, and service-based business owners who want to get found online without the stress, the overwhelm, or the agency price tags. I built this to share the system I still use today, so you can save time, money, and energy - and get results.

I use WordPress myself, but the strategies apply to any website. More than anything, I want to make SEO feel simple, clear, and totally doable.

If I hadn’t had the early support of Keith my Google mentor, I don’t know where I’d be today and with 95% of my enquiries coming from Google - I don't think I'd actually still have a business. While I’m still busy running Sashay Dance, I do open up a limited number of slots each week for mentoring sessions, available online or in-person in York or Leeds.
